Markets
Having spent 26 years in local government administration, 10 years selling our handmade pottery at large craft shows countrywide and the last 13 years trading on our local markets as a bespoke picture framer, I feel that my life's experiences should be put to good use supporting the town of Louth and especially its markets.
Aspirations for the Town Partnership
The Town Partnership has given many local folk the opportunity to participate and support their local community. By joining any of the Partnership groups their enthusiasm and willingness to help others can be fulfilled, and at the same time help Louth to improve in many different areas.
Kate Levey
I have lived in Louth for twenty-five years. I was drawn by the relaxed pace and wonderful architecture of the town I now regard as home.
While “conservation” and “progress” appear to be opposing ideals, I believe they can work to mutual good effect to give this unspoiled heritage town the future it warrants.
Jill Makinson-Sanders
Hon Secretary and Tourism
I was born and brought up in Louth, where I live a busy and full life enhanced by my family and friends. I have been a member of Louth Town Council for a number of years and am a Trustee of Hubbards Hills and the Nichols Youth Project too.
Aspirations for your role on Board: People staying in my holiday cottage love the town and its very special charm. Louth has great potential as a tourist centre and we need to capitalise on this over the coming decade to help sustain the local economy.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: For the Partnership to work positively with the Town Council and others to bring Louth Louth gently into the 21st century, to enhance the exceptional quality of life we enjoy here while promoting sensitive development to bring positive gains for all sectors of society living and working in the town.
Alan Mumby
The Arts
Owner, planet-struck – copywriting and video production services.
I was born and raised in Lincolnshire, but left in 1968. Following four years in Manchester, two in Birmingham and almost six in Jamaica, I returned in 1980, eventually settling in Louth in 1993, so in another 10 years or so I might be accepted as a true Ludensian! I’m a member of the Keep Louth Special campaign group, and also Chairman of Far Welter’d, the East Lincolnshire Dialect Society. I’ve joined the LTP board because I don’t want to see Louth ‘gettin’ itsen far welter’d’ in the years to come.
Aspirations for your role on Board: Firstly, to help raise the profile of the rich and diverse Arts community in Louth and surrounding area, so that each Arts-related individual, group or society will be made known to as wide an audience as possible, and every event that takes place will receive maximum possible, multimedia publicity. Secondly, by harnessing the support of the Arts community in particular, and all interested members of the community in general, to give as much support and encouragement as possible to the project which aims to create an Arts Centre in Mansion House, Upgate.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: I hope that the Partnership will help to bring an increased sense of community, ownership and civic pride to the people of Louth, and to encourage all its citizens to play their part, however big or small, in helping the town to prosper and to remain an attractive place in which to live and work.
Patrick Neville
Chair, Louth food & Drink Group
Long career in journalism and corporate PR in UK and Australia. Before moving back to England in 2009, was involved in the wine and food business in the respected McLaren Vale wine region of South Australia.
Aspirations for your role on Board: To gain wide recognition of Louth as a food town of excellence.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: To contribute to improving Louth's quality of life in every way possible through community co-operation, imaginative planning and common sense thinking.
Emily Roberts
Health & Wellbeing Chair
TV Presenter/Voice Over Artist/Writer for cookery and travel programmes broadcast on SKY. www.cookwithemily.co.uk
I'm absolutely passionate about food, health, cookery and tourism. Not only am I lucky enough to be able to put this across in my programmes which go worldwide but I hopefully spread some of this enthusiasm when I work with various community groups and schools on a grass roots level. I also campaign and raise money for the homeless and for orphans in Africa through my Christian ministry.
Aspirations for your role on Board: I hope that the H &W group will help both residents and visitors understand health and well being issues thoroughly by ways such as cookery and educational events. Hopefully, we can inspire other towns to follow our lead and be a healthy and happy town to live in and visit.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: All the board members wear very many hats! We have a dedicated and talented team of members and on many occasions the various groups intertwine with each other. I have felt the wonderful community spirit, drive and commitment and would wish for this to continue within the board for the future.
Neil Sharpley
Sport and Leisure
Long standing Louth resident with Louth based business, involved in various community, sports and arts groups and societies.
Aspirations for your role on Board: To support and assist local sporting and leisure groups, activities and facilities of all types, and to examine possible additional leisure events in Louth in the future.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: By collaboration to work to resolve long standing local issues, help Louth preserve its heritage, and ensure Louth develops and prospers in the 21st Century
Biff Vernon
Environment
I am concerned with the condition and our enjoyment of Louth’s environment. I see this in the context of the wider global environment, how our actions relate to future energy security and global warming. I particularly represent the issues of interest to Louth Transition Town and other environmental groups..
Aspirations for your role on Board: I want to ensure that every decision made by the Board takes into account the implications of peak oil and global warming.
Aspirations for Louth Town Partnership: I want the Partnership to be a focus for building resilience in our community through an uncertain future.
